Children’s Theralac® is Theralac in granular, powdered form. It uses the same patented alginate-delivery technology that has made Theralac famous, allowing probiotic strains to make it through stomach acid ALIVE! Instead of having to open capsules like when Theralac is used for children, Children’s Theralac is ready to use!
Children’s Theralac provides 25 billion CFU per serving, guaranteed through expiration if kept refrigerated. Short periods at higher temperatures are okay, such as during shipping or when travelling. All five probiotic strains in Theralac are of human origin, are rated G.R.A.S. for human consumption by the FDA, and have a proven safety record.
The prebiotics in Children’s Theralac, LactoStim® and Lactoferrin, benefit the probiotic strains by giving them an advantage over undesirable intestinal bacteria. Lactoferrin is derived from milk so check with your pediatrician before giving Theralac if your child has milk allergies.
Children’s Theralac is packaged in nitrogen flushed, amber glass bottles containing both oxygen and moisture absorption packets for Totally Inert Packaging (TIP®)
Every lot of Children’s Theralac is tested for CFU, Activity and Purity; results are available online at theralac.com.
Children’s Theralac is protected by U.S. patents 7,122,370and7,229,818.
DOSAGE:
One dose is ¼ level teaspoon. Simply FOLD into soft food (applesauce works well) and wait 2 minutes to allow the protective gel to form – then serve. There’s no grit, no color, no taste! Even taste-texture fussy children have no issues taking it. Being a powder, Children’s Theralac does not contain magnesium stearate which some parents dislike. Children’s Theralac can be given to children ages 6 months and up, check withyour pediatrician before using with younger infants. Hate swallowing so many capsules? Adults can take Children’s Theralac too!
For prevention: give your child 2 servings weekly, about 3.5 days apart. One bottle of 40 servings lasts 20 weeks!
For tummy and G.I. disturbances: give one serving daily until better and then go to 2 servings weekly for maintenance.
Taking Children’s Theralac with TruFiber™, a clear mixing, gritless, tasteless, prebiotic, will double the effectiveness of Theralac and help correct tough conditions.
Children’s Theralac helps correct occasional diarrhea or constipation. When used together with TruFiber®, both conditions are relieved fast. See trufiber.net for clinical studies.

Probiotics For Autisic Children (Or Adults)
Probiotics do two things that significantly benefit an autistic person:
1. They increase the level of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract by crowding out undesirable, harmful bacteria. This process is called competitive exclusion (CE).
2. They improve the integrity of the soft-lining (mucosal surface) of the intestinal tract. This reduces the harmful effects of incompletely digested foods and toxins.
Probiotics contain beneficial Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria that colonize the soft- lining (wall) of the intestinal tract. Lactobacilli work best in the small intestine, Bifidobacteria prefer the large intestine (colon). When both types of probiotic bacteria are present in large numbers the intestinal tract is healthy and bowel movements are normal and predictable. When intestinal surfaces, like the microvilli in the small intestine, are colonized with probiotics it is difficult for pathogenic microorganisms to infect those surfaces, this is called the CE effect.
Drug treatments for ASD often disrupt probiotics and result in either constipation or diarrhea which results in reduced absorption of critical nutrients including vitamins and minerals. The most basic mechanism by which probiotics help people with ASD is by supporting intestinal tract health so nutrition and bowel function can improve. Reestablishing regular bowel movements is job #1 for probiotics and for this to happen quickly and consistently the probiotics must be strong. They should contain at least 10 billion CFU (colony forming units) per dose.
The second mechanism by which probiotics help is directly related to the first: When intestinal surfaces (and the mucous covering them) are abundantly colonized with Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria the health and integrity of those surfaces begins to improve. Specifically, when columnar cells, (the small intestine’s "gatekeepers" that keep incompletely digested foods from entering the bloodstream) are damaged as they are in most ASD patients, leaky gut results and undigested proteins (like those from wheat gluten and milk casein) pass into the bloodstream and cause a number of complex of reactions - none of them good. It is now known that certain types of harmful bacteria and yeast can exacerbate this condition and that therapeutic strength probiotics can keep them in check.
Regarding yogurt as a probiotic for ASD: Milk casein aside, the new probiotic fortified yogurts do not supply enough CFU to produce a therapeutic effect. One leading probiotic yogurt is advertised to contain 3 billion CFU per 4 oz serving but only delivers 3 million to the intestinal tract due to stomach acid sensitivity. To create the beneficial effects discussed above only a high quality, acid-resistant probiotic supplement with at least 10 billion CFU per dose is acceptable.
How Well Does It Work?
A medical study on the effectiveness of probiotics on autistic children was conducted and the results were overwhelming.
